In short, there is a witch and her assistant who fight evil. Animals – elementals of different elements – help in the fight. There are constant dialogues.
The gameplay is a mixture of Tower Defense and arcade shooter.
Tower defense is pretty standard. We build seven types of towers. By default, they can only be level one. Between missions, by collecting special materials in different ways, you can upgrade the ability to further develop them as you progress through levels.
Turrets differ in functionality, but do not represent anything new (AOE, freezing, strong attack on a single target, etc.).d – quite casual). Perhaps there is a building that shoots fire on command, burning our main resource.
The battle begins when we destroy a special crystal, but before that it’s worth planning a defense scheme. This won’t be so easy in battle. Monster attacks are quite annoying, the breaks between waves are only a few seconds.
Locations often contain points of interest from which you can get various resources.
Losing a battle can happen for two reasons. Or the monsters crushed the cat they were approaching and which was acting as a protected object. Or the witch has run out of health points due to sloppy flying and hitting enemies (this happens in the heat of battle), some opponents also shoot, and if we hit, we are dealt damage.
Our heroine is an important participant in the battles. She flies and can not only build or improve towers, but also actively fires at monsters. The damage caused by a witch is very great and critical for defense, so it’s not very easy to find time to go build something in the midst of a battle. The heroine must also collect all the resources that fall out; if this is not done, they may disappear.
Among other things, there are special missions where the process resembles an arcade. Enemies fly freely around the level, and our task is to defeat them. It’s interesting that in flight the witch can pick up a couple of towers and they perform their functionality.
Enemies are quite varied. There are thicker, more vibrant ones. There are bosses. A certain feature are opponents who, without warning, can fly out from a random place – not along the path of ordinary monsters.
Fight-fight-fight. You can see a ghost https://bookmakersnotongamstop.co.uk/review/gxmble/ on the right that has crawled out from outside the map.
There is a good pumping system. At the base, for gold and resources, we improve the heroine, towers, we can cook food from knocked out products, which gives buffs.
The good thing is that the levels allow you to replay them, farming gold and resources. You can also improve the stars received at the location if they are not ideally collected.
Let’s look at the pros and cons of the game and summarize.
+ Simple but nice graphics.
+ Good music and sound.
+ Good battle system and tower balance.
+ Good active game/witch shooting.
+ Good system for leveling up the heroine and buildings on the base.
THINGS THAT CAN BE BOTH A PLUS AND A MINUS:
+- Too long dialogues between heroes at the start of each mission. In general, I like to read, but then I just started skipping, I lost my patience watching them pour water. But maybe someone will like it, so I don’t write it as a minus.
+- Quite a unique case – the game is designed for a gamepad. Plays great with it. From the keyboard/mouse – a little crooked.
– A rather chaotic system of explanations of what and how it works. At the end of a large tutorial, which lasted quite a long time, for example, I didn’t understand how to improve towers; later, purely by chance, I came across this in the base menu.
– The battles are quite drawn out in my opinion. It would be possible to implement them somehow more vigorously. At the same time, there are very upsetting imbalanced situations when you have resources for a couple of towers, but if the witch stops shooting, you lose, this makes you sad. Some kind of balancing suggests itself.
– Some towers are very strong, and some are practically useless. At least at my stage of playthrough it is visible.
– There is no Russian localization of at least the text. Level of required English – medium-low.
CONCLUSIONS OBJECTIVE
Quite an unusual project, with its advantages and disadvantages. Almost the first time I played Tower Defense with a gamepad and it was sensibly implemented.
CONCLUSIONS ARE SUBJECTIVE
Purely from personal feelings, the pros outweigh the cons and, in general, the feeling from the game is positive.
PS: I probably didn’t cover all the aspects, I might have missed something. I will be glad to add/correct the review or answer questions along the way in the comments.
PPPS: I guess this is my last review this year. I take this opportunity to wish everyone a Happy New Year 2022. Hooray!
